Yes, a very expensive and time consuming deal. Worth the effort to get at least some kind of spare. I decided to order a complete spare factory Rim and tire. I know with a low profile tire like these rim damage can happen too. Either one is not a stock item. Then the guys posted about ordering all the parts for a complete factory spare set up so I did that too. I intend to do some long trips and will Feel much better. According to discount tire the new Prius is the only US vehicle using this tire size.

I have a 2023 Prius XLE AWD and My total cost to add an OEM spare to was $596.14, I followed a write up on the Priuschat forums. I don’t know if the 2024 is similar or not.

You could probably get away cheaper if tried to make your own foam inserts. I already got burned by having a flat in this car and the piece of mind of having a real spare is great. I didn't know car makers were moving away from spares so it was a shock to be stranded on the side of the road with only the little compressor and tire goop cartridge...

Question: I bought a 2024 XLE, and I noticed that I don't have those plugs in top of the battery pack. Is there a different setup for the 2024?

I took mine through a gas station automatic car wash and scratched the clear coat on both sides of the doors near the bottom. I used this same car wash for years with last car. Prius paint is horrible and soft. Easily chips and paint swirls. I am tying to talk to Toyota about it. It is one of my only complaints about the 2024 I just bought. 🤷🏻‍♂️. You will find others complaining about how easily there plant is chipping and such. Not just me. They just keep making stuff cheaper and lower quality as time goes by. It’s the world we live in now. 😔

Sorry to hear that happened. I don’t like automatic washes at all but live in an area where they use some salt so I’m concerned about winter and the undercarriage. I guess I’ll just try to hand wash when the weather permits And deal with the underside at home. After looking things over I’d say this is a real fragile body, likely due to the weight saving effort. The rocker panels are plastic and seem they’d be easily damaged along with the lower front end and the thin plastic underbody panels. Time will tell I guess. As you say they’re all getting cheaper.

Yes I agree and only have been hand washing now. Also went yesterday to price out ceramic coating that last 2-3 years. If it’s not too expensive I may end up doing it.

I'm picking up my new 2024 Prius Ltd tomorrow, AWD. I looked at ordering the parts listed with the video above, and they are back ordered at my dealer for a month. When I went to an OEM website, it said the disc wheel may not fit my car, and the flange nuts may not work, either. Has anyone done this with a 2024?

Mine is also a ltd. AWD and the parts worked perfectly. I ordered them from an Online dealer called sparksparts.com
they were also back ordered and I was told It could be a long wait but it was all shipped in a couple weeks. They also told me the thing about being unable to verify if they would fit. I guess since the cars came with no spare they don’t have a way to verify but all was fine. I also ordered an Amazon Jack and had the other tools needed so I avoided the Toyota price for those items. Best of luck, for us worriers it does give some peace of mind.

Is yours a 2023 or 2024? Sparkparts says the disc wheel won't fit my 2024. Just curious about your experience.

mine is a 2024. When I got the compact spare I compared it with a new factory alloy wheel. The bolt pattern appears identical to me and from what I could see the offset looked fine too. I guess one day I'll jack it up and try the spare on the front, the most critical to verify fit. I haven't gone that far yet but will try to soon. I made every effort to verify the part numbers with them using the SN but it appeared that since it wasn't in the build sheet then the numbers are not verifiable for our cars. very frustrating to be treated this way!!!!!

I ordered these parts and when I try to install in my new 2024 LE, they appear to be too thick. The holes in the styrofoam for the two black friction pegs are a good 5 inches above the tab they should mate with. The screw hold down is "too short" with this stuff. did they change the depth of the well here the spare tire would good? I'm going to have to saw off some of the styrofoam to get it to fit. Crazy. Maybe there are new styrofoam pieces that are not as thick?

in other words: HELP!

I never use those carwashes. I wash mine at home, on the lawn. Then I polish it. Dirt seems to slide right off.

True, those items are included but tire Damage occurs in many ways, some not repairable with slime. one Main concern Is that the 19 inch tires are only used for the 23-24 Prius and as a result they aren’t common stock at tire shops. If a person decides to get a complete wheel assembly as a spare there is no place to store it and I don’t think Toyota even stocks the wheels anyway. Even if the slime is used it will render the old tire and pressure monitor useless resulting in quite an expensive repair. This is my ninth Toyota and 3rd hybrid but likely my last. A person shouldn’t pay the price for new and then be shopping for items like this on the aftermarket. A true temporary spare should at least be included as an option and one that would replace the foot tall foam fillers. If I’m on a rural road many miles from home and cut a sidewall I won’t count on this garbage as a reliable temporary fix. Sorry for the buyers remorse showing in my reply. Heck my 91 mr2 turbo even had a spare as small as the car was. At a minimum the dealer should inform buyers of this issue.
Same 19" wheels are standard for same models of Prius sold in Thailand, but they come with a spare tire (donut) and Jack and lug wrench. Here, we are to rely on our cell phones and somebody in a service truck. Oh, goody!

I found a spare tire kit on ModernSpare.com. It is advertised for the 2024 Prius Prime but I called them. They compared the Prime versus the limited AWD and said it was compatible with both. They are pretty easy to get on the phone so you can confirm the info for yourself. $469 plus about $50 for shipping and it’s a good looking spare with cover, jacks, wrench, etc. just put in your vehicle info.

where can you buy the styrofoam blocks and cover for the spare ? I can't seem to find them anywhere and those part numbers don't work at the oem sites i've searched
I bought the part numbers - the two styrofoam pieces + the holddown - via the "online" parts ordering web site at mylocal dealer. They do NOT fit the 2024 LE. Apparently the floor depth changed such that these styrofoam pieces sit up a good 4 inches above the level of the floor. And while I was able to receive them in about a week, they were expensive and will need to be cut down for the permanent arrangement.

I bought my spare from them as well. They have been great about answering questions. And their spare is not a "use only at low speed for 200 miles" tire. It is actually rated for highway use, which is great. It's an 18" wheel but a low-profile tire so the rolling diamtere is the same as the Prius 17" wheel + tire.
