I had a rattle that sounded like it was coming from that area. It turned out to be the plastic covering over the A-pillar. It was easy to isolate. It went away if you pressed on the plastic. Easily fixed with a little shim.

Some with 2004's found that the mirror under the dash for the speedometer display was loose. They fixed it by wedging some foam tape or a comb between the top of the mirror and the dash.

Sometimes though rattles sound like they are coming from a different location than their source. I've had things in and around my center console rattle or squeak and it sounded like it was on the dash or my rear-view mirror. By the way, the rear-view mirror sometimes does rattle/buzz some.

 

After pressing the brakes there is a noise. The brake pressure sensor or something like that. The noise is by design though.

 

A brrrrr sound, almost like an aquarium air pump, is the brake accumulator pump. It comes on when brake fluid pressure in the accumulator gets below a certain threshold. That pressure is applied to the wheels by the skid (brake) ECU as needed.
