I did my first oil change at 2500 miles. I will then start on the 5,000 mile oil change interval when I get there.

This drain valve (http://www.fumotovalve.com/) should speed up and simplify an already easy/quick job on the Prius.

I'm thinking about installing one. Is it magnetic? Do you have to "hold" the valve open while the oil drains?

I have used them before on several vehicles, and they seem to be well-made. However, the price is much higher than the probable actual production cost. The convenience may be worthwhile, though, if you do your own oil changes. However, only you can decide whether the convenience is worth the price.

What!!! Aren't you the man who, a couple of weeks ago, chided me with the following comment:

. . . given that Toyota engineers have ascertained that 5k oil changes are prudent, what is it you hope to achieve with 2.5k oil changes . . .
