THOUGH I'M STILL WAITING FOR MY DELIVERY (SEE 62.3 MPG POSTING)...I FOUND ANOTHER POSTING FROM "MRV" ABOUT "COASTAL ELECTRONIC TECHNOLOGIES". THOUGHT I'D SHARE IT IN CASE YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT.

FYI - I WANTED AN XM RADIO FOR MY PRIUS (WHENEVER I GET DELIVERY) BUT WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE. "COASTALETECH.COM" HAS THE XM RADIO AND OTHER ACCESSORIES THAT BOLT RIGHT ON TO AND MANUFACTURED FOR THE PRIUS. THE XM RADIO AND OTHER ACCESSORIES ALSO WORK IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE PRESENT COMPUTER AND VEHICLE.

You can also buy one from http://www.priusxm.com but it is $499 where http://www.coastaletech.com charges $410.

I have a question, has anyone actually got an Xm Radio installed by a Toyota dealership? I was quoted $250 + $100 to install (which is a lot cheaper than above) but some of the dealers I called said that was for the 2003 and not the 2004.

Does Toyota dealerships have one for the 2004?

Thanks

Ryan :D

XM RADIO

Package 9 with an added XM Radio...for me that's the icing on the cake. Now if I can just get the Prius to put it in I'll have it made!

I've got XM in the Prius using the SkiFi module with an FM modulator adapter. Not the cleanest solution, but a lot cheaper than the in-dash version. Only other downside is you have to play with different stations sometimes since it can be hard for the modulated signal to overcome the FM station signal that you're trying to override.

Ya, I wouldn't have minded if it came with the BC/#9 Package.

I'm a bit confused. Is Toyota offering coastaltech's XM solution as an option, did Toyota start using their own XM as an option, or do I still have to purchase Coastaltech's XM directly from them?

from what I can tell, the CoastalETech and the PriusXM are just resellers of the Toyota integrated XM kit, with added installation instructions and support.
