Hey i was thinking of ordering a backup camera for my classic, but the problem is the camera uses wireless signals to transmit the image towards the drive. Knowing that they couldn't get away with using the glass to accept radio signals would I run into any risk if I were to install this system and use it to back up?

i was interested in that piece... anyone had any issues when using wireless products with the prius?

Well, the link still doesn't get to the actual product, but I think I found what you were looking at. It should work, but you would have a separate monitor for the camera.

And the company is Coastal Tech, or more accurately, Coastal ETech.

It seems his lockpick only works for 2004/2005 Prius according to his chart: http://www.coastaletech.com/APPLICATION%20GUIDE.htm

The OP was asking about a reversing camera for a Classic Prius. CoastalETech does have a reversing camera for the Classic, as an add-on to their Viewtech product (which does give you input jacks).

I do recall someone on the PriusMods yahoogroup that figured out a way to display camera inputs on his Classic, so had cameras in place of the side view mirrors (to reduce drag)...

No. The battery won't know or care.

isn't that why hybrids have a stubby antenna up top of their cars instead of using the rear glass to accept radio signals? so that the signals wouldn't intercept.... kinda like not allowing cell phones on planes kinda deal...

Window antennas have always had problems, so many models of cars don't use them. You'll find lots of Toyota models use that antenna system. You'll see them on other makes as well.

And we can use our cellphones in our cars. This point is emphasized with the provision of Bluetooth hands free system in the higher packages.
