Okay, I know nowadays, cars can go 200,000 plus miles without major engine repair as long as you perform regular maintenance. I am curious how long a Prius or any hybrid can go without changing the battery(which I can imagine is very expensive) or any major repair. Hybrids are NEW territory and I would like to know if there are any out there who has gone to the new limits.

If you have over 100,000 miles on your car could you let me know? Thanks!

100,000 miles

Since the Prius is relatively new on the scene, I doubt many have that kind of mileage on their Prius at this point. However, I own a 2002 which I have owned for just under two years and I already have close to 54,000 miles on it. I am averaging 30,000 miles a year due to an 80 mile roundtrip daily to get to work. I anticipate reaching the 100,000 mile mark sometime in the summer of 2005. I will keep all posted........So far no problems to speak of with the Hybrid battery or the car in general.

The original 2001 Prius taxi in
Vancouver went over 322,000km
(200,000+ miles) before being bought
back by Toyota for research...

Eric Metzler, owner of the toyota-prius
yahoogroup, has over 100,000 miles
on his 2001 Prius right now. There
are reports of a few other Prius
over the 100,000mile mark right now
in the US.

No problems reported yet for any
hybrid components.

2001 at 78,000 miles

I purchased my 2001 Prius used at 50,000 miles. It is now at 78,000 miles. I will be well over 100k by this time next year. So far so good!
