I have a 2003, and it is really bugging me! In the trunk, next to the slot for the eye-pin for towing, on the right side, is a rectangular hole in the foam. It seems pretty apparent that it is a space specifically intended for *something* - but what?:? It's driving me batty!
Any help solving this mystery would be appreciated!
The little rectangular slot in the right side of the trunk floor in the 2001-2003 Prius is a holdover from Japan. The hole is for a first aid/emergency kit of some form. There's also a little strap on the wall next to that- that's to hold an emergency cone or reflectors, required for Japanese cars to carry.
I wouldn't mind having a first-aid kit that fit nicely in there and didn't rattle around. If there is something specifically designed for it, I would consider getting it. Any suggestions anyone? Any confirmation this is really what the "slot" is for?
Thanks again!
