Toyota 3 year complementary maintenance

The dealer told me about this briefly. Does anyone know what this includes? He said you could get free oil changes, tire rotations, etc. Is this available at any Toyota dealer? Does anyone know anything about this or does anyone know of a webpage describing this benefit? :?

I haven't had confirmation as to whether the 2003s come with it, but the 2001 and 2002 Prius in the US do have the free 3yr/37500mi maintenance included.

Look in your 200X Prius Passport to Performance Scheduled Maintenance Guide. (Make sure it says "Prius" and isn't the generic maintenance book for all Toyotas.) If you read the first few pages, it'll list off the free services. They're good at any Toyota dealer, although some aren't as familiar with servicing Prius so you'll have to remind them that your service is free.

The free services are for the regular duty cycle scheduled maintenances. Basically, it's the 7500mi/6mo services that are an oil/filter change and tire rotation. Eventually the passenger compartment AC filter and the engine air filter also get replaced free, too. So, it's your first 5 services (up to the 3yr/37500mi service).

See http://www.john1701a.com/prius/prius-maintain02.htm for the regularly scheduled maintenance guide from the 2001 Prius. The severe duty schedule is not included on this page.

Warranty

Yes, I saw this site after I posted the message. Its a very good site and answered my questions.

Now I have a question about the warranty. On the Toyota site, it says 'See the Owner's Warranty Handbook' for warranty information. But if I do a search, I can't find it. Does someone know of an eCopy of the warranty information? Should I contact my dealer for a copy of this information? I purchased the 'Extended' warranty, which I assume is an extended version of the Basic warranty. I can't find any information though. :?

http://www.toyotafinancial.com/pyv/exte ... prius.html (Prius extended warranty is the Platinum plan.)

I know I did get a separate pamphlet for the warranty within my bundle of manuals and such when I got my 2001... I don't have my car's glove box handy at the moment to know the title or publication # on it...

My mother has a 2002 Prius, with the Platinum warranty on it. I know that she has at least these booklets:
Owner's Warranty Rights Notification. 00503-99999-NCDS
Prius Owner's Warranty Information 00404-02002-PRIUS
The Prius comes with 3 year 36000 on the main portion of the vehicle.
The Hybrid system is covered for 8 years and 100k on the mileage.

This is what the hybrid batteries life is estimated at also. (Maybe up to 150k) but in any case I didnt think it was worth buying the warranty because of the hybrid coverage. 100k max anyway on Platinum warranty. Maybe if they covered to 150k, then I could see buying it. I hear the battery is about $4000 to replace.

The gas engine is covered for 6 years or 60k.

But as I said before I didnt think the extended warranty was needed. Besides, they give you up to the 3 years or 36k to save up to buy one if you decide later to get the warranty.

Here is a clip from Toyotas web site

Prius Warranty

Every Toyota Car, Truck and SUV is built to exceptional standards. And that's not idle boasting. We back it up with these Limited Warranty Coverages:

Basic: 36 months/36,000 miles (all components other than normal wear and maintenance items).

Hybrid-Related Component Coverage: Prius' hybrid-related components, including the HV battery, battery control module, hybrid control module and inverter with converter, are covered for 8 years/100,000 miles.

Powertrain: 60 months/60,000 miles (engine, transmission/transaxle, front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, seatbelts and air bags).

Rust-Through: 60 months/unlimited miles (corrosion perforation of sheet metal).

Emissions: Coverages vary under Federal and California regulations. Refer to applicable Owner's Warranty Information booklet for details.

Accessories: Warranty coverage is for 12 months, regardless of mileage. If the part or accessory is installed during the New Vehicle Warranty period, coverage is for 12 months or the remainder of the applicable warranty coverage, whichever is greater, with the exception of car covers, which are covered for 12 months only.

You may be eligible for transportation assistance if it's necessary that your vehicle be kept overnight for repairs covered under warranty. Please see your authorized Toyota dealership for further details.

Other manuals???

I bought a Certified Toyota Used Car, a Silver 2002, that was one of the dealer demos. There were no manuals in the car, the saleswoman found me 2002 owner's manual. I'd like to find out what other manuals, folders, info pieces came with a new 2002. It would be great if you can also list the Toyota part number so I can give it to the folks I'm dealing with.
THanks,
Ed

The most useful document in understanding your car is not included in the new car purchase. It is a must read for all technical issues, but hardly necessary if you just want to drive it.
