Starting isn't ever an issue. The engine fires right up, definitely better than any traditional vehicle I've ever had to deal with.
Plowing through the snow is fun. Last year, it was so deep I was actually able to cruise along in stealth on the highway... totally enjoying the ride rather than freaking over the horrible (rough & slow) driving conditions outside.
Picked up my first Prius in March, which didn't let me do much snow driving, but I was really happy with the driving I did in the snow we had. Definitely most more sturdy on the road than my previous vehicle, an Echo.
I've also heard from other sources that the additional weight of the Prius (battery packs, heavier construction than many cars) means better-than-average control on snow and slush, as far as keeping contact with the road.

From Fargo, ND, I can confirm everything John said, except that I cannot comment on deep snow because I always wait for the snowplow. But I can add that the Prius handles wonderfully on ice (I have the "AM" pkg with VSC).
My 280K miles 2004 Prius is completely dead. I pushed the start button and there was a noise like a fuse blowing, then nothing. The 12V battery is new and fully charged. Is there a main fuse somewhere that I need to check? Anything else I should look at?
My new Jeep Cherokee has the start/stop system. My mechanic says this feature will
cause premature failure of parts. I am aware of the stop/start on Prius, they've had it
for a long time.. Is there any truth in this. First post, Thanks guys
I've a 2018 Prius four and there is a small push buttom switch and indicator light on the right hand side just above the cupholders. I've not been able to determine it's function. Help?
We are the original owners of our 2005 Prius. I don't know how many miles ago, the hybrid battery was replaced. The car now has 230k miles on it. Ever since then, our prius has had problems with sluggish acceleration. Looking at youtube, I think that the problem could be the catalytic converter...
