TdS Report #20: Team Profile: Driven to Work
Scott Pfluger and Lorraine Margolies have a story. "We are Driven to Work.
And we are driving this rented 2001 Honda Insight. During the September crisis
most of the people on my team lost their jobs. We all have a background in
marketing and advertising and promotion. We are pooling those resources to
make up for what we don't have in technical ability to bring this car and prove
that anybody anywhere can get this car. That proves the point that the Tour de
Sol has had an effect; the general now has these hybrid vehicles available to
them."
The car is rented from EV Rentals in California, through Budget in Washington
DC. "We have it for a month, to allow time to put the singage on, and take it
off before we return it."

"When business died after 9/11, we met at a career group that meets every week
to develop job hunting skills. Around February we started thinking if we just
took all the talent in this room we could form our own company. Scott was
interested in alternative energy sources." Scott had done promotions for teams
in past years. And the idea grew from there. They then just used all the
skills from their former jobs to pull the team together and get into the Tour.
"Our goal is to practice our skills while promoting better milage. It gives us
an event to talk about to future employers.
