I just scratched the door on my new Prius. There isn't any damage done to the body of car, just the paint. Do you think I am better off bringing it to a dealer or just having it done a shop that specializes in paint jobs?

If you are going to get it done professionally, get a estimate from both places.

Most dealers don't do any body/paint work themselves. They usually have a deal with a local body shop to do all of their work. I would ask your favorite dealer who they use and check them out first.

Sorry to hear about that. I had a superficial bumper scratch when a passenger drug their suitcase out of the back of the car when I wasn't available to assist them. It made me sick, the car was only 5 months old when it happened.

If the scratches are not deep a good detail shop can generally buff them out. However, if the scratches go through the clearcoat and down to primer or even steel, well that is going to require a body shop. Get competitive quotes. Lowest bid isn't always the best. Talk to others who had the same kind of work done and see how it turned out, how well the repair held up over the long haul.
