OK...this may not be a new topic but I can't find it in the archives:
I've heard (somewhere) that the *%$#! Reverse Beeper can be turned off by the owner. I'd be happy to lose the seat belt beeper too. Anyone know how..? TIA

TY very much. It worked as advertised. Backing out of the garage has become silent again.

If your 2004+ Prius is a North American model, you can turn off the reverse beep yourself.

If a UK/European/Australian 2004+ Prius, the only way is with some wirecutters...

I have a UK Prius and cannot turn off the Reverse beep using all the available (ODO) methods. Can anyone tell me which wire to disconnect/cut please
Many Thanks

I believe the reverse beep kill dance doesn't work in Europe. There's no wire to cut. The buzzer is on the body ECU but it is used for other things besides just the reverse beep, like letting you know you left the keys in the slot (or in the car in general if you have SKS) and the like.

The sound of silence...

is GOLDEN!!! Thanks for the instructions to quiet the reverse beep. I've had my '05 Salsa Red since Saturday and I knew it had to go after the 2nd time I backed up! I look forward to reading and contributing any other tips and tricks. Arrive alive!

I really can't understand the fuss about the reverse gear beeper. I kinda think it's neat--part of the Prius' technological uniqueness. And it's only on for a few seconds.

I don't know if it can be heard clearly outside as I'm in the car during it's operation, but if it can, I am thankful it would get the attention of others as it otherwise silently reverses.

It is nearly inaudible outside the car. It is there to warn (annoy) the driver. Good riddance. :?

Agreed. If there was a beep outside as well, I think most of us would forgive it and let it go. But a beep that only the driver hears is annoying.
