Hello. Just bought a new Silver Prius and love the way it drives. One quirk I've noticed is that view out the rear windshield seems a bit distorted just above the "barrier" between the lower and upper shields. Anyone else notice this? Is this an overall Prius quirk or should I take it to the dealer?

Best,

L

Yup, optics are just a little bendy at the bottom of the window. You'll get used to it, and it shouldn't interfere with your safety, etc. Think of it as a "feature." :) And welcome to the family!

Same here. Give it a couple weeks and you won't notice it. You will also have to get used to feeling out the front end while pulling up--seems closer than you really are. Congratulations, you'll really enjoy your car as well as this forum.

Actually, I am noticing mine more and more. I also see distortion between the defroster wires.

I also notice distortion on the passenger edge of the windshield. Try viewing a telephone pole through there.

One of the problems is the steep angle we view through the rear window. When you look at the car from the outside, the hatch window looks more like a sunroof. That makes slight imperfections much more noticable.

watch for something else soon...

Not only that you will notice....
Watch for cotton translucent balls when the sun hit it hard....
I think the defroster film is having some technical inconviniences.

Let's see what the gurus have to say...!!!

I just noticed what I guess is what was referred to as cotton balls in my rear window the other day. I noticed this from the outside, so I don't know what effect it would have on driving visibility. I am wondering if I need to be concerned ... my Prius is 6-weeks old.

Take off your polaroids.

Exactly. Polarized glasses will show the tempering stress patterns in the glass. Now Dan, you may just need glasses.

Yep, it's all in the polarization... don't beleive me... Put on your glasses, look at your MFD and **** your head 45 degrees to the right... then back to the left.
