Corolla has better MPG than most cars and the 04 one should performs pretty good in it's class. But the Prius gives it's driver a image of being green and its tech are much more advance than the Corolla. So it really depend on what your need.
I personally will choose the Mazada 3 with navigation if I can't judge the premium on the Prius.
