It seems the 2005 prius have started to arive - some places have waiting lists still for the 2004 - but some places are selling the 2005 already!!!


This seems like the perfect place to coordinate exactly what dealerships around the country have a 2005 ready to sell.

I am pretty sure that there are 0 dealerships in san diego! I'll finish calling the last two smaller dealerships today.

Dealerships won't be keeping separate waiting lists, and while some buyers offered a late 2004 might decide to pass it up and wait for a 2005, basically it will just be a matter of an invisible transition.

The only dealerships with Prius on the lot, available for sale, will be those who charge thousands over MSRP. It appears that if you are willing to pay $5,000 over MSRP you can get one pretty quickly. Otherwise, search for a dealer with a short list or high allocation, and wait. Maybe months, maybe a year.

Been on 2 lists in Socal, #1 since Feb, #2 since April. Dealer #1 calls 3 weeks ago, has our car, '04, I pass. Dealer #2 calls 2 days ago, has an '05 for me. Should get it in October. MSRP ''05.
