I am totally impressed with the service I received from Asif Mahmood who is the Prius specialist at Toyota Town in Stockton CA. He has been very helpful in teaching me the ins and outs of the car which was sold to me with no extra dealer mark-up and delivered to me in less than a month after I ordered it.

Apparently the dealership gets a huge monthly allocation of Prius cars and Stockton, being a very conservative city has residents who don’t understand the Prius and are more likely to buy more traditional vehicles .

I spoke with Asif today and he told me that he has a gold Package 9 available. You can reach him at his cell # [209] 327-0488.

If he has sold it by the time you reach him, he will likely be able to deliver a car to you without the standard months-long waiting time. Perhaps in less than a month.

Thank you for the pointer, Arizona Charlie! I've left Asif a voicemail today (meant to do it all weekend). I'm looking for a #9 Prius, and gold is one of several colors I'm willing to go with. Either blue or green would be fine, too.

Heh...fuel-sipping green.

Update: Asif called me back this evening and we chatted for a few minutes. He thinks it may be a couple months before it'll get to be my turn. I'm sending him a $500 check tomorrow.

After a five month wait from my local dealer I contacted Asif after reading a posting from a very satisfied customer...now a Prius owner. Asif advised me that I was looking at a 12 to 16 week wait but it could be sooner.

I placed my order with Asif immediately. During week 4 I received a phone call from him advising me my Prius would arrive in approximately 10 days. I phoned my local dealer who advised me the same delivery date information.

After approximately 7 days Asif told me my Prius was in (I reluctantly declined it as I am relying on my local dealer to come through).

It's now several days since I spoke with my dealer and still no Prius in my garage. It's still witin their time limit of delivery but I can tell you that my dealings with Asif at Toyota Town in Stockton is outstanding.

Less than 4 weeks after our initial chat, Asif told me yesterday that my car is ready for pickup! I'll be taking the trek out to Stockton after work today. Wee!

Asif was very straightfoward with me about how it got to be my turn. All 14 cars of his semi-monthly allocation were spoken for, but one would-be owner decided to pass on this round due to conflicting travel plans. The 4 people above me on the list didn't want a driftwood pearl #9 (BC).

Originally, I thought if it wasn't going to be my turn for another month, then I would just wait for the 2005s. But then again, I don't think I want to be at the bleeding edge when it comes to cars. :)

Thanks, Arizona Charlie, for the pointer!

Louie

P.S. Yes, I'm getting it at MSRP. There were a few extras on the car that Asif said he couldn't do anything about. But at least I'll be paying the Stockton rate for sales tax which is lower than the 8.25% I pay in the Bay Area. (I forget.... Is Stockton at 7.5%?)

Asif is a streight shooter. I'm on his list for a 2005 and he called me offering one of these as it met all of my other requirements. I was on his list less than a month before his call!

And yes, I'm stll waiting for the 2005!
