Please help.

I am negotiating to buy a 2004 Prius from California. I live in Illinois.

The California delaer wants me to pay California sales tax.

The State of Illinois will charge me sales tax when I register the Prius.

Do I get 'double taxed' or should the California dealer not charge me for sales tax?

Hopefully someone can offer an explanation help soon. I do not want to miss this one.

False alarm.

California dealership realizes they should not charge the sales tax.

Illinois will clip me upon registration.

But looks like we'll have our Prius in under two weeks!

Toyota of Long Beach handled the transaction @ MSRP.

However, had to pay $3000 for chrome wheels, which would have cost half as much if privately installed post-sale.

Salesman, Richard Garcia, handled the transaction rather exceptionally. Would highly recommend him.

Freight company DAS handling truck transport from CA to IL. Rates very reasonable.

Sorry you missed the trade, but happy to have my new baby.
