I need to get my second oil change for my 05. First one was done at local Toyota dealer.

1) If I go to other lube services (EZ Lube, Jiffy Lube, etc...) this time but still get the big maintenance job (15,000 mile service, etc) done at dealers, does that null my warranty?

2) Assuming it's ok to go to other places for simple oil change, does anyone has recommendation in SoCal (LA county & Orange County area)? What should I tell the service people if they are not familiar with Prius?

You can get your oil & filter changed anywhere. You can even do it yourself without voiding the warranty. Just follow the Toyota recommended service http://smg.toyotapartsandservice.com/in ... &year=2005. Be sure to tell the mechanic not to overfill the ICE when putting in the new oil. The consensus seems to be to put in about 3-1/2 quarts at refill. This will bring the level up to almost full on the dipstick.

I use the 5K intervals for service on my 04.

It's a good idea to save your records of maintenance performed in the even a warranty question arises.

- Remind them to use the proper grade (5W, not 10W like most other cars)
- Check the level before you drive off to make sure it isn't overfilled.
