Tonight, I was with my family and decided to sit in the back for the ride home. It was my first time in the back seat for more than 5 seconds and it was great. I love the legroom and the smooth ride. But....Being 6'2, and my hair "foofed" up tonight, my hair was touching the roof.

Ok Brad, how about this one, did you read the first couple of words of my original post? It went a little something like this:

I am 5' 11", but of long torso. I definately hit my head in the back seat. No matter how my hair is combed. The little lip down is just a few inches too far forward. It was/is one of my few compaints with the car.

Yeah, this is one of the few complaints I've heard about this car that always confuses me...

You said you're 5'11" and long torso so I'd assume thinner and you're uncomfortable.

Brian (with your family, eh? ;) ) is 6'2" and pretty skinny and thinks it's fine.

I'm 6'0" and about 225-230 and my knees come nowhere near touching the driver seat (when it's all the way back) and my head doesn't rub (my hair either)

Top this with comments I've seen in the past about someone hat was 6'5" and totally comfortable and someone who was 5'9" and posted that there was basically a non-existant back seat...

Things that make you go "wtf?!?"

No, I used to be thinner, now I am chunkier. Like the peanut butter.

Not sure what you meant by thinner and uncomfortable. Can't see how weight would impact, unless one was so large as to be uncomfortable just fitting in the seat??

I just meant for someone of my height, I have shorter legs, thus a longer torso. Not circus freak dramatic, but noticable to me. I have no problems with leg room in the back, although my wife is pretty short. I just hit my head on the downward lip.

My brother is about the same height as I, and does not hit his head. But he is more evenly proportioned than I.

I gotta think someone who is 6' 5" and didn't hit was either slouching; or is short of torso and long of leg.

I'm 6'2" and have oodles of legroom in the back but can't sit up as more than just my hair (up or down) hits the top. I wish the steering column were adjustable in and out so I could recline the seat more and still comfortably reach the wheel. I'm not sure if I am long torso type or not, my inseam is 32".

As Brad said, I am 6'2. I don't keep my seat all the way back though, I usually keep it about 4-5 inches foreword from the farthest it goes backward. I reach the pedals fine this way, but my right leg sometimes bumps the shifter ever so lightly, but doesn't affect it. My left leg just sits there leaning against the door. The problem I find with the drivers side set up, is that the steering wheel is so far up there. I like to have my arms comfortable when I drive, so I move foreword to reach them comfortably. Now with the seat where it is, there is not a problem. I went and sat in the back seat this morning and I don't rub against the roof now. Just when my hair is "foofed" I do.

What about the FRONT seat?

I'm interested in getting a Prius but wonder about driver comfort for someone about 6' 1" and 215 lbs...anyone that approximate size who can tell me? (Haven't found one to test sit in yet!)

As previously stated I'm 6'2" and weigh about 230. I find the Prius to be pretty comfortable. It is good enough. There are always ways to improve somemthing but probably not too much in this price range considering all the tech you are buying.

I don't have any strong comfort issues with it. I tried to buy a Subaru Forester once but my right leg rubbed the center console to the point of pain after about 5 minutes.

Caveat: I haven't driven more than a few hours at a time so don't know what would happen on a long trip for sure. I suspect everything will be good enough. Unless your leg to torso length ratio is way out of whack you shouldn't have a problem. I have great headroom with the seat adjusted on a slight rake and forward from the rearmost position by a couple inches. The ergonomics of the controls etc. are fine.

My parents recently came out to Ohio (from Pennsylvania) for a visit, and they rotated between the front and back seats during the week they were visiting. Besides really liking the Prius (or perhaps liking that it wasn't my '92 Ford Escort?), both found the back seat to be very roomy. They're 5'8" and 5'2".
