Sweet.

Verizon customers, don't forget... if it's been two years or more since you got your last phone, you're entitled to $100 off the price.

Warning:

... and if your current contract ISN'T up (or within a few months), they'll want to charge you over five bills for the phone, instead of $320 minus the $70 rebate. I'd only had my previous phone for a year and change, and Rat Shack said I'd have to pay the higher price, even if I re-upped for a new 2-year contract. I called Verizon Customer Service, and they talked to the Shack guy and overrode the price. (Thumbs up to Eric in the VZW Sacramento office!)

Love the phone (except for the crummy camera quality in any lighting other than bright sunlight), and the Bluetooth connection is a snap, but as far as I know, there's no way to dump your handset phone book data into the car's phone book. True? False?

Actually the $100 rebate every two years applies even in the middle of a contract term. If you've had your verizon phone more than two years, they're supposed to give you the deal.

I knew there is a reason I'm still using m 5185i

I agree. The V710 is a great phone. But I think there are a few Bluetooth problems using it with the Verizon network. For example: when there is an incoming call, neither the phone or the Prius's NAV system "rings". Also, you can not load the phone book from the phone to the NAV system. And there may be a few other glitches.

I am particulatly interested in the no ring problem. Does it work for anyone on the Prius?

I just got a v710 works well. Setup was easy. For the moment as long as you keep the stereo on you will know when you are called by the silence. The transfer of phone book does not trouble me as you can not use it while moving. I do not live in the city so I don't stop at lights every little bit. I will have to use the phone to dial in any case. I wish it had a few less non phone features, but I guess that is to be expected on a high end phone. I have never figured out what you need a camera on the phone for. Once there is a 6-12 mega pixel camer phone with 4 gigs of memory and a 40 gig hard drive and full PDA and internet connection we will talk. For now these are minor essays in the art. Nice but not truly functional.

Thanks for the Caller ID info... but that really stinks.. What is the purpose of only seeing it when the car isn't moving ? Has anyone here here found a work-around to these functions being disabled when the car is moving? My Alpine system in my Ford Explorer lets you do almost everything, except set-up while the car is moving. You get a warning screen when you power up saying to use caution when the care is in motion. I realize it can be a distraction if not used with caution, but screaming kids, shaving, and putting on make-up are also distractions and no one limits that.
