While the administrators and moderators of this forum will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is impossible to review every message. Therefore you acknowledge that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author and not the administrators, moderators or webmaster (except for posts by these people) and hence will not be held liable.

You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented or any other material that may violate any applicable laws. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned (and your service provider being informed). The IP address of all posts is recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions. You agree that the webmaster, administrator and moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should they see fit.
Is there any way to have a bit more moderation on the Prius -General board? Lots of off-topic discussion there, including quite a bit of the "abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented" variety... At least have some of the off-topic discussions moved off to an off-topic board...

The posts that are going on the General site especially between MarkPrius and Fish Antlers have become very offensive. We are not talking here about debates, we are talking childish, perverted rants that serve no purpose to the forum. As with most gross car accidents and such, the rubber neckers cannot help but look which feeds into the over-inflated egos of these two people. There needs to be some moderation. It would be best if the "rubber neckers" could avoid looking at posts from these two.

I've got a full plate of moderating elsewhere, Pete, so I'm not going to request that permission here. But I think some of the issue is not just that you need more moderators but that the moderating needs to be a tad more aggressive.

Fish_antlers is a troll, same IP as Priuskid...this, to me is a no-brainer--block the IP. It is frustrating to come here and see all this going on with Mark accusing every new poster of being a troll, and all the hostility going on....and I end up getting lured into it myself.

If these people coming here with no purpose but to create trouble are stopped early on this forum can get back to what it's supposed to be.

I was recently granted Moderator status. Not that I don't already have my hands full with several other boards (toyota-prius and Prius_Technical_Stuff on yahoogroups are the biggies), that I don't check in here all that often...

Anyhow, here's what a Moderator has access to:
http://www.phpbb.com/support/guide/#section5

basically: Move Topics, Delete Topics, Lock and Unlock Topics, Splitting Topics, Delete/Edit posts, and the creation of Sticky or Announcement Topics. You do get to look at IP addresses of posters, too.

But there's no actual user-account related moderator access (like banning people, or helping someone create their account or issue a new password for a lost one), nor is there any way of putting new users or problematic users on "moderation" like on the Yahoo!Groups (all new users or certain users have their posts held pending approval by a moderator before getting posted to the board).

I was/am willing to pitch in since I come a few times a day so I could help with moving posts, general moderation etc if need be. But I have under the 50 post limit so now I'm one more closer. Really though, if allowed I dont mind helping out... I'm familiar with phpbb moderation/administration already.

I do not have any experience with moderating forums but I am willing to help out in any way I can. I see this forum going under unless some action is taken (I don't want that to happen). I have about 3 hours a day free to contribute and as I am usually on the forum reading posts I would love to pitch in.

Pete,

I would like to say that I enjoy Priusonline and find it to be informative and fun to communicate on. On top of that the interface is simple and fast and doesn't clog up my browser. Too many posting boards on the Internet do that. Thank you.

Like others, I have noticed that some individuals, who have been generally labeled as Trolls have been posting here. I'm not sure that they should be banned, but I think that their topics need to be observed. Sometimes topics get a little out of control and need to be closed or moved to a more appropriate sub-forum.

I have placed my name in the hat for a possible moderation duties. I'm only interested in this because I feel a connection to this site and want to ensure that it remains a quality place for people to visit, get questions answered and talk with people of same interest. Priusonline has been very helpful to me and I'd like to return the favor.

Thanks for your consideration.

Just a reminder - to be considered for becoming a moderator, you have to go to http://www.priusonline.com/groupcp.php and ask to join the Moderators usergroup.
