We've had freezing temperatures the past week and my Prius has been sitting in my garage unused. I tried to turn the engine over, but all i got was the malfunction indicator lamp came on. I'm having it towed in to the dealer on Monday and I want to be educated on what might be wrong with it. Any ideas?

We need some more description of your situation:
- What year or generation is your Prius?
- What do you mean by "turn the engine over"? Do you mean you're turning the key in the ignition (Gen I) or pressing the "Start" button (Gen II and III)?
- Is anything else behaving strangely?
- Did you connect a scan tool to the OBDII port and read out any fault codes?

It may be as simple as a dead 12V battery. If you dome light is very dim when you open the door, and you don't get the "READY" indicator when you turn the key, this could be the problem. Just clip jumper cables onto the 12V battery from another car and try again.
