Hello,
I am new to this board, but glad I found it. I am wondering how long you have been waiting or waited for your Prius to come in. I am in west Texas and have ordered a silver #7 on April 26th. I ordered from a small dealership that only seems to get a new one every other month. I paid the $500.00 but still don't have an estimated arrival date. They have 14 ordered. They are not adding to the MSRP so I am afraid to try and get one somewhere else. So how long have you waited?? :?: :?:

I just got an e-mail that san marcos toyota has one either in or coming in. I fyou are willing to travel, you might want to check them out. Some of teh dealers I contacted a month or two ago in the San Antonio area were quoting waits of from 3 to 24 (!!!!) months.

I only waited 5 weeks in Northern VA. My feeling is that some people are deciding to wait for the 2005 model so maybe your wait won't be so long. I also got on 5 lists, all at MSRP.

Good luck. You will love your new car.

I've waited 5 months. Still don't have it, but it's supposed to be here next week. I'm climbing the walls with excitement! I would have been waiting longer, but I finally called and said I'd take a different color.

I responded to that email from San Marcos Toyota. It said,"Great news everybody I have a 2004 prius avalible to get by next month it is gold w/ package # 6. To take advantage of this Prius you must contact the Internet Manager, Geno Alexander @ toll free 866-570-7761. Geno Alexander"

When I called, Geno told me that someone who had given a deposit was on his way in to complete the paperwork. I asked if he would call if the deal didn't work out, and he took my number, but then he told me that the person he was dealing with was paying $28,000. When I told him I wasn't paying that much, he said, "Thank you very much," and hung up on me.

Waiting since April, estimate 5 months

I've been on the list w/ $500 deposit since April. Right now they are fulfilling "orders" taken in January.

Of course there really aren't any orders. Toyota is in complete control of the marketing for this model. Each week(month) the dealer recieves their allocation of cars in a pre-determined (by Toyota) assortment of colors and options. When they get a new car, they call the person who has been on the list the longest. Then the next person, etc. until someone takes it. The price is the MSRP price. If you are at the top of the list and you don't like what's in this week, then you get first pick next week(month).

That's how it works.

I put my order in Feb 21 for either a #7 Tideland pearl or Seaside pearl. I took delivery of a Silver #7 on Jul 2.

Um, well, a week and a half. I called around and found a dealership within an hour's drive that had a no. 3 coming in that someone else declined. Since their other customers wanted other packages, I slid right in. I picked up the car this afternoon, and it's sure nicer than a 1992 Ford Escort. So, I suppose that things can move quite quickly depending on how much luck's involved. Shchaslyvo!

In Dallas, paid a deposit and have been waiting since November. I am waiting for a silver #9. I was offered a prius with out the navigational system but turned it down-never believing I would still be waiting in July. Does anyone know if there will be any changes on the 2005 model? or when they will be offered??

I have also been waiting since November, 2003. I have gone into my dealer many times to get updates. My dealer is not making this a pleasant experience . Recently I became #1 on the list and only found this out by driving over to the dealer again. They said that they have one coming in but I haven't heard anything at all about it. Looks like its time for another drive over there.

I ordered my Prius in December 2003. Was told I would have it end of January 2004. Finally got it mid April. That was AFTER I got the call that the option package I had ordered was no longer available. It only took them 4 months to figure that out! I ordered a red one, but got a silver one instead with more options. I was #2 on the list. The #1 person wanted a red one ... no matter what! I guess it's good I took it. I'd probably still be waiting for the next red one to arrive (after the #1 person got theirs!!).

The car was worth the wait. And now that I have found this site, I have managed to get rid of the damn reverse beeper and reset the "Maint Rqed" light after changing the oil. For a small car, it has tons of room inside.

Someone asked if the electirc motor is on most of the time. The anser is no. The electirc often times assists the gas, keeping the RPM's lower. If traveling at a steady pace under 40MPH, the electric will kick on that the gas will shut down. The battery is good for only short periods of time before it needs to be recharged. I guess the thinking is that a smaller battery weighs less, and therefor won't reduce gas milage.
