They are essentially the same  The 2004 is essentially the same as the 2005 and the 2005 as well.

Ya know, I'll bet we suspected something like that. You are having a good case of "cannot wait for my new Prius" on the brain! That'll wipe out all sensible thought for a few days, for sure. :D Enjoy! I had happy dancing feet for days when mine was on its way.

But Melgish's answer is right, just the same. ;)

Changes I've seen posted here:

1) Rear wiper made standard
2) Push-clips added to headliner to keep it from sagging
3) Nav update (available to retrofit 2004s)
4) Gas filler neck fix incorporated at factory (available to retrofit 2004s)
5) Various ECU reprogramming up to date (available to retrofit 2004s)

Any I'm missing?

Cloth thingy above your head. Makes it pretty inside car. 2004s were having trouble with droopage (sad). Toyota put round "pins" (not really pins, but for want of another word) in to hold it up. Droopage can be embarassing. Especially of the headliner.

Some of the earlier 2005s also needed the NAV update, they had version 4.1.
Not all 2004's needed fuel system update or the brake switch update or the SSC-40D update.
I think even some 2005s have the potential of needing the latest calibration.
