I apologize if this counts as a double post, but I didn't get any replies in the Q and A forum. Figuring this is maybe read by more members, I will try it here.
I've recently noticed scratches on the lower driver side door panel and side panels of the center console. I believe they are in part caused by rings when fastening the seat belts in the case of the console. Not sure about the door panel, but may be done by valets exiting the car. It isn't an area that I would normally touch. Has anyone come up with a product that will cover the scratches or renew the look of the plastic? I don't remember noticing this problem on my '04, which had the light tan interior. This '06 has the gray. I would be most appreciative of any ideas or products that might be suggested.

I have a gray interior on my 04 and have some scratches also on the side door panels (mostly the driver's side). They really don't bother me and I don't think they will have any impact on resale or trade-in value when I decide to buy another Prius. I don't know of any product that will remove those scratches. However, if they really bother you, you could contact a body shop to see if they can recommend a product.

If they are marks rather than deep scratches Mr Clean "magic eraser" will clean them right up without doing any further damage. I don't think you will be able to remove deep scratches from the plastic, as you would also remove the "pebble" finish, and that would show.

Thank you both for the replies. I will try the erasers, as we have a bunch of them around the house.

Well, the eraser didn't work, although it did take off some accumulated soil on the door panel, of which I wasn't even aware! So my problem is scratches, although they don't appear to be very deep. I guess I will look for some plastic or vinyl trim products to try.

Take a look at this: http://www.janvil.com/plastic_polish.htm However, if you look at the specs, the scratch remover is NOT intended for textured plastic surfaces.

Please let me know if you found anything else.

Be very careful with what you use the Janvil plastic polish kit on. I used it on the little door beneath the radio on my 07 and it removed all of the colored coaing. It looked miserable and I wound up having to otder a new door-panel. $108 plus yanking the radio to get it in
