Hi! I just got a piece of paper from my auto broker here in NY, that showed a sailing (?) date of 8/3/04. About when will I get the car? I was told by the broker that I should expect it "mid September".

Anyone with experience who can tell me what the 8/3/04 date means?

Thanks!

Steve

Based on my recent experience, knowing when the ship sailed is not as useful as knowing when it will arrive in port (either CA or WA) and all cars aboard are cleared with Customs. My dealer expects to receive my car in Escanaba, Michigan about 8 days after being loaded onto a train from the coast to Minneapolis, and a truck to upper Michigan. Hope this helps. Ask your dealer for more info.

CLARIFICATION

CLARIFICATION:

What I'm looking at is the "Vehicle Inquiry Report". For "Ship Date" , it says 08/03/04.

Any clue when a car with a ship date of 8/3 will arrive in the Northeast?

Thanks again!

Cars shipped to NY go through the Panama Canal. From that point it's at least 2 weeks, longer if they have to detour bad weather (and it is hurricane season). I'm not so sure about the Japan to Panama time.
