My Prius is a month old today. I only have 310 miles on it. Im worried when I do drive it around I have not seen the battery meter in the Vehicles display show that it is fully charged. Its usually around the 3/4 mark.

Since the car is new, should I drive it on the Interstate on a trip, in order to get the battery charged fully several times?

Im also affraid that the battery will retain this "Memory" of 3/4 if I dont help keep the battery fully charged at some point.

I understand that It will discharge when it gets charged in order to drive in Stealth mode, but I only get about 1/4 mile at the most in stealth mode (Speed around 35 mph) because the battery only shows 3/4. Am I thinking right or wrong?

Is there maybe something wrong with my car that it will not charge the battery fully. When I go to work in it, that is 16 miles one-way. The speed limit averages around 45 mph. There are probably 6 stoplights on the way. I usually try to coast as much as I can. Most of the time I have to keep up with traffic in order to not get run down.

Thanks for the help.

There is a real lot of discussion of the NiMH battery in the archives of here and Yahoo groups. A short answer is simply - that is normal. you will probably only see full when regen/coasting down a real long hill. The battery is maintained in a tight range and 3/4 is very normal.
