Hi, Rickey,

Pardon me for my post here in the dealer section of this forum, but in your last 3 posts it sounds like you are trying to make us aware of some aftermarket accessories for our Priuses. All the various dealerships I have visited in Mass & Conn have no Prius-specific accessories & they don't know where any are available. It seems that the southeast region (Texas, Fla, & whatever other states are included there) have some cute or interest'g Prius-specific items (such as the HSD emblem on key rings, hats & what not) that nobody else can seem to get ahold of.

I'm NOT talk'g about hybrid-general things (such as on : gohybridstuff.com ) or one of the other sites I've seen that has Prius-specific items that that are for the Japanese-only home market [like the outside rearview mirrors that have the built-in turn signal lights (that our USA cars don't have the wiring for)] etc.

If you're trying to promote some other nice Prius-specific items you know of, why not provide us some links (if you know of any) to view such stuff. I also know that some companies that make wood grain dash kits (although they make stuff for many car makes & models) do have kits for the Prius. This is the kind of links I'm talk'g about (but NOT just the wood grain kits), if you know of any.

Does YOUR OWN dealership's parts dept have any Prius-specific items & does it have a website that yoiu can link us to?

Ken,

The vendors that carries many useful stuffs for Prius I deal with are mostly
dealer's suppliers.

The do not deal with_Retail Customers_, I have the Sunroof for Prius. The Leathers and seat warmers for Prius. Nav interface to factory MFD's. Bluetooth tel upgrades to the same MFD's.

I do post this to _Help_ Prius fraternity. Someone has called me on the Back up camera integrated to the original Prius MFD's and I gave him my vendors number to please help another "PriusCentis"

My vendors normally deals with us the dealers only. They may do some retail business deals if I ask them. Hope you understand.

Hi All:

Just joined today, after "lurking" for several weeks, particularly looking for info on sunroofs... Pretty disappointing to find most are in the "all-electric, monster" category at $2000... Not what I wanted. Well, I'm extremely pleased to report that I located a local installer in Walnut Creek, CA who was willing to work with me to find a manual pop-up sunroof, which he installed this morning for $470 tax included...! Has two positions -- half-open and full-open. Not much noise on the freeway so far -- a lot better than rolling down side windows even a little... Very neat professional job. Wow, after plunging in for the Techno marvel and Engineering masterpiece such as Prius.
at hefty price higher than most ICE cars and then you select this option so called Sunroof foryourself?
install such a _Low_Tech_ manual pop-up 'cause of price.? If you own and paid for your Prius, then you can afford the High Tech Electric Sunroof, can't you? Where is your value sence of high tech option to the Prius that deserves the best?

just 'cause of price ? you will regret installing this mickey mouth "Sunroof" when you have to sell your Prius. You will have such a _hit_ de-valueing your Prius high re-sale at sale time .
You should have asked the forums opinion before installing a "pop-Up" they were back even in the 80's a _Flop_.... Now and go measure your gas milieage before and after...as well.

What an atrocity, to install such an option of the past to the car of future!
My opinion.

Well, You can't say Rickey doesn't speak his mind!. When you state completely "open", do you mean "removable?"
Rick's right. you will take a "hit" on milage. Probably hardly noticeable, but still some. And "what the heck," the car isn't a Lexas!
Look's like a great "mod" for the guy with an 04 with 70,000 miles on his car and who is getting bored with it. (and lives in a moderate climate) This could make an interesting subject and would be better if posted in the "Prius Info" section. Doubt anyone will find it here.

Hyperion,

04 with 70k? Wow that is a lot of miles!

Yes it is a big hit with the mileage. I have one of my aquiantance that installed one of these
"Mickey Mouse" Pop-Up Sunrrof, due to _Cheaper_ but he was so dismayed with the excessive wind noise and 7 mpg drop! Eventually called me up and we tinkered with his "Already cutted up Sunnroof" removing it and retrofitting it with the All electric and retractable/lift up Flush surface sonnroof
like mine and all his grief went away! Like the Maytag men says, pay me now and pay me more later? or was it the Transmission Guy?

Well, Ricky, I'm really disappointed that you would denigrate someone just because he has different value choices. My opinion is that $2000 (ie: almost 10% of the cost) is too much/poor value for any sunroof in my vehicle. It is not a "mickey mouth" (sic) sunroof, but is just what I wanted. Considering that you haven't seen it personally, I find it insulting to have you make that assessment, and frankly I think it reflects poorly on you personally. Haven't had it long enough to respond on the mileage, but I doubt it will have much effect. And for those wondering about about the "open" part -- its not an open hole, but tilts up from the back, just like the overpriced electric monster that Ricky prefers, but without all the extra bells and whistles that I neither want nor need -- and with a fraction of the extra weight to carry around and affect my gas mileage... In any case, after initially being sorry that I didn't find Ricky before I bought the car elsewhere, I am now very glad to not have gotten it from him... Believe me, I will not be recommending anyone to go to that dealer or to Ricky in the future...

The Poo-Up Sunroof is _Old technology of the 70's.. If cost is the criteria,Why then doesn't all low priced Auto manufacturer of the World, such as HYndai Kia etc use them and offer to the general public? 'Cause they are outdated and inferior. Also dangerous in case of accident-roll over. Not a single Auto manufacturer offer them for the last 20 year? Besides, I do not sell them, I refer the installation to the "Specialist" manufacturer..So I do not care if you had the Pop Up or the real genuine one. I just preach the "Real Maccoy" I do not need you to recommending me for my Prius nor Sunroof installation. I have been established already, since the Gen I Prius days, mind you.
