Mother has a 2004 Prius without SmartKey. I have smart key and it beeps when I lock it. How can I make her car beep when the lock button is pushed on the key fob? Her lights blink, but she wants it to beep like mine too, when it is locked. Anyone have any idea how to program this?

Check the manual. I know there is a option for audible warning to be on or off with the Camry and the procedure's in the manual so the same may apply to the Prius. Sorry, I don't have the procedure memorised :(

I examined the repair manual section describing the configurable options. Unfortunately there is no beep if you do not have SKS. I'll try and find where the outside buzzer is, maybe that is all that's needed, but it is possible the SKS ECU, working with the body ECU, produces the beeps. No SKS ECU, No beeps.

How do you make an audible beep when locking

It's really pretty easy, but my wife hates it when I do. I would be happy to teach you.

Really? Hmm, that's something new

Why does it require a trip to the dealer to enable/disable the beep (p. 34)? The Camry's lock/unlock beep is self-customisable.

I've determined that the outside beeps are coming from the engine relay/fuse box. Still haven't seen the transducer, only been able to localize the sound.

Depending what you normally watch. Originally said by Lauren Bacall to Humphrey Bogart in "To Have or Have Not" but I'm sure it's been used in a number of porno flicks.

According to wiring diagram, the buzzer is a separate piece on the wiring harness that appears to be underneath the engine compartment fuse/relay/junction block. It connects to one of the terminals in the body ECU. Wiring diagram doesn't show it as an SKS only piece, so there really was no reason for Toyota to make the wireless silent without SKS.

Without having the body ECU programming in my hands, I couldn't say if it is technically possible. The body ECU sends the beep signal to the buzzer, as well as locking/unlocking the doors when it receieves the requests from the wireless receiver.
If the buzzer is already there for all packages, as I suspect is the case, then the body ECU is withholding the beep signal from the buzzer if SKS is not present. However, if the buzzer is simply missing, it could be added, assuming the pin on the body ECU that it connects to is trying to send the signal to a non-existent buzzer.

I would have suggested connecting the buzzer to the parking lights so it would go off when they blink, but then the buzzer would sound continuously if you had the headlights on.
