Forbes Magazine just issued their listing of the top ten new cars with the best residual value...defined by Forbes as those top ten new cars that should hold their value over a four year period. The Toyota Prius is included in the Top Ten Listing. Most of the other models are exotic, expensive, luxury models. Are you surprised? :mrgreen:

Not surprised... After all, the Prius is about the only car that GAINS value the moment you drive it off the lot.

edit: Although that's not true everywhere any more, and probably won't stay true for much longer...

For example, I saw a private-party 2004 'package 0' Prius with 8700 miles on it sell for only $800 under its original MSRP last week. (It even had paint damage!)

I don't get it. If the Prius has such as high residuel, why are lease payments still so high? On all the online lease calculators I used, every one has Prius lease payments barely lower than actual purchase payments.
