Hi All,

My partner and myself are looking at purchasing a 04 Prius and an after peoples experiences (good and bad) so far, especially from people that are living in Australia.

We only get a 3yr 100,000 km warranty and 5 year / 100,000 Km battery high voltage warranty and a 5 year / unlimited Km corrosion perforation warranty. But not the Hybrid-Related Component Coverage that the US has.
So there is a 5yr diffence in warranty relating to those components!

Has anyone has any issue with the Hybrid system with the Classic or 04 Prius of any major concern? If so an approximate cost of repair..

Thanks in advance
Ben.

Hello Ben...

The US government requires longer warranties on polution controls on cars (I think it's 8 years and 100,000 miles). Toyota covers all of the hybrid components in the US for that period/mileage. I suspect they opted to do that to avoid arguments and law suits about where polution control starts and propulsion begins. Some states (California for one) has forced a 150,000 mile warranty on the traction battery. That bodes well for the durability of those compoents.
