I was driving down the freeway in my 2015 Prius. I started going up a long gradual hill and decided to disengage the cruse control by turning it off. The car started making an intermittent whining and/or howling noise. I pulled over to the side of the road and turned the car off and looked around the wheels to see if anything was rubbing or out of whack. The noises went away. However, whenever I now use the cruse control on the freeway the noises start again. Any idea what this problem is? I'm guessing that it's going to cost me a bundle to get repaired. I can probably live without cruse control but it really is a nice feature. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks. Keith

I bought a 2004 prius with a defunct cruise control
I purchased the two most likely to fail components, one from the USA and the other from China , both new , and the total cost was about $50 USD . It took this old man (82) about one and a half hours to replace both parts . The results are excellent., works perfectly, If this old man cad do it , I am sure anyone can .
In your case , I cant be sure about your noise problem , but at a cost of $50 and a bit of your time , it might be a good place to start ,. The cost at the Toyota dealership here , would require me to get a mortgage, or put the wife and kids and grandkjds out on the street !
Only simple tools and watching a short vidio should guide you through the process
