At the Toyota site, http://prius.toyota.com/details/specs.html, I found under Standard Features the following: Tinted thermal absorption glass with ceramic rear window sunshade. I don't remember anyone talking about a ceramic rear window sunshade. Neither can I find reference to it in the manual (which, IMHO, needs a lot of work). Anyone know what that's about?

The lines at the top of the rear window are the ceramic sunshade. They reflect light/heat, but allow you to see through. Like Venetian blinds.

Just took a look at my 2002 silver Prius rear window with the black sunshade! Real neat but doesn't make a lot of sense to me! It is black and black absorbs heat so I would think it would make the glass real hot in the summer, although, I guess it's designed to keep the sun off the rear Passengers! Any Comments????

It's better to heat the glass, which is in contact with cooler outside air, than to heat the rear deck, which is in contact with interior air that you'd prefer not to heat up.
