What do the Cars that appear in the blocks mean?

They symbolize power regenerated. There should be a "Key" to the upper right of the screen, I think one car is 10kwh.
1 car = 50kWh energy regenerated.

Thanks. That sounds better!
For the "energy challenged" what does 1=50kWh mean in English?
It means that for every car you see displayed, 1 kilowatthour (about 860,000 calories) of energy has been converted from braking to battery charge. And a calorie is the amount of energy needed to raise 1 gram of water by 1 degree Celsius at normal atmospheric pressure.

Too bad those calories don't come off the driver's tush. Prius could be a health benefit as well as environmental benefit! Every Prius driver would be more shapely and fit than we already are! :)

Sorry Sanny, you'd need the 'Gilligan's Island' version of the Prius for that to happen.

Keep Peddalling Little Buddy...
Alternative energy, indeed... :::sigh:::

50kWh or 50Wh? I thought it was 50Wh
50Wh

Yeah, I would hope it is 50kWh!!
But, no, it is 50Wh per "car" you see on the screen.
With 50Wh you could "light up a 50W bulb for an hour".
All right, now, is it good to get those little cars or not? I told you I was "energy challenged".

Well you'll have to consider this is someone who was off by a factor of 5000 on the AMOUNT of energy regenerated, but... Yes, it is a good thing. That energy goes to recharge your battery. OTOH you will see more little cars when you are in stop and go and not otherwise getting best mileage, so it is kind of like a consolation prize...
How long do I wear the dunce cap?

The answer to the cars good or bad question isn't straight forward...as the discussion in the posted link will show you.

But, considering we have to stop and use the brakes sometimes it's better to have them than not.

However, it is also better to minimize the amount of breaking you do...thus the fewer the cars the better. You accomplish this by using the glide or quasi-neutral accelerator feathering technique to glide as you approach areas where you might have to stop, try to increase your following distance such that you don't have to stop completely before a light changes, slow early before turns to minimize brake use.

This all, of course, must be done within reason based on your driving conditions. It isn't worth getting someone ticked off at you to save a regen-car from appearing.
May I add to you doc?

Less cars relative to the bar. If you have no cars and really poor mileage, you've been accelerating too hard, too often. But if you have really high mileage and few cars, then you're doing quite a bit of coasting

WOW, that's like eating a whole chocolate layer cake yourself. :!: :!: I didnt even know this car makes chocolate cake.

I LOVE this site.

Well sure...if you feel it's absolutely necessary to make things simple to understand instead of my incoherent rambling! :p
heh. Only when you speak to us in medical terms

Despite all the learned commentary, they have absolutely no practical function whatsoever.

Just some Toyota engineers having fun giving us info that we dont need, cant use, but looks cute.
