available packages

Good morning. This is my first time to post. I have found this site most informative and entertaining as I wait for my name to come up to the top of the list. My salesman couldn't tell me yesterday where I am on the list (I called to let him know I'm seeing Prius in my neighborhood and wonder how close I am), but promised to call today or tomorrow.

My question is one I haven't found addressed in previous posts. Forgive me if I've just missed it. I've been told by my salesman that only three packages are available (#4, #7, #9). Is this a regional thing? I noticed on dealer websites in different parts of the country that they offer different packages when you order a car....limited, to be sure, but different than the three I've been told will be available here.

Thanks!

Yes, it is a regional thing. The southwest/california has not been getting the "safety package" (VSC, airbags, foglamps) ... they're targeting the packages, perhaps for ease of ordering.

Most regions only have three packages available at any given moment, and oddly enough, sometimes they change. All territories seem to get the #9 package.
So, I was just told by a dealer in San Francisco, CA that the only available packages are 6,7,9. He said that toyota is not making any other packages... I'm not sure how believable that is since they are still advertising that on their home page.

What really gets me is that I have been on a waitlist since January with another bay area dealer for a package #1. If they're not even making them then why wouldn't the dealer tell me!!! :x

All I gotta say is this is the most frustrating process I have ever had to go through to buy a product!
About the first of April I went to check on my "number" at the dealer, he said then that they are getting 100% of number 9 package......so what happens to the people that don't want that? I ordered a number 9 so its not my worry, just curious.
yes, it is a regional thing. each region orders whatever packages they like, and then ships them sorta willy-nilly to the dealers in their region (and not by what dealerships have the longest wait lines, or the oldest waiting order).

Check the build and price your Prius option off of http://www.toyota.com/prius and input your zip code to see what packages are available in your region.
Thier are different packages available in different regions.

Here are some regions and available packages.

Texas 3,4,5,7,8,9
Southeast 3,4,5,6,7,8,9
Centrial Atlantic 4,7,9
Denver Region 3,7,9
Chicago Region 3,7,9
Northwest Region 1,5,7,9
Southern California 3,6,8,9
