:? We have ordered a Salsa Red option 7 Prius and can't wait for it to come in, however we need to wait for the tax break that is in the yet to be passed energy bill. Congress people will get back to work on January 20th and it will be a while after that that the energy bill may be passed. Unlike the current $2000, soon to be $1500 income deduction, just like contributing to an IRA, the energy bill has a provision for fuel efficient/low emission vehicles that amounts to about $2700 for the Prius. That's a nice break, especially when combined with the income reduction break currently available.
Has anyone any advice on how to have a new Prius AND the tax beaks with out having to pass up the car, and wait for another, if it comes in before our congress people pass this energy bill?

I imagine that, like most tax provisions, whatever law is enacted will apply to all of 2004. So the key is not when in 2004 you get your car, but whether the credit applies to cars put into service in 2004.

Beyond that, it's in Congress's hands. We all like tax breaks on the things we use...

tax break

Thanks hanalea,
Your comments about the likely tax breaks in the anticipated energy bill are encouraging. :) . You would say to accept the car when it comes and trust that any tax breaks would apply to all of 2004.
Sounds good to us.
