I was wondering if the stereotype of hybrid owners are true (i.e. We are all a bunch of tree hugging liberals) or if we cross over to "the other side".

I wouldn't call myself a tree hugger; I bought the car because it is cool AND I can save some cash on gas. Now if we can just get rid of all those damn minivans, trucks, and other larger vehicles that block my view of the road!! :)

Hey,

I am far to the right of Bush (but will vote for him). Our country already has become socialistic. We don't need no stinking card Kerr'ng commie at the helm.

I bought a Prius cause i am more concerned about the rag heads than the Jap's.

That is the most racist thing I've read in recent days.
It's no wonder your grammar is so poor, you are obviously not very well read.

I am not an over the top tree hugger but I have a healthy respect for the environment. I believe that as a nation we must free ourselves from foreign oil and reduce our consumption of fossil fuels in general. The Prius is a step on that road and a statement to others about that. It is also a engineering marvel and has major geek appeal. It may save me a bit of money cash flow wise we shall see. I expect gas prices to rise so overall savings may come into play. BTW my son is getting his degree in Enviomental Studies and is an Intern in the Deparment of Enviomental Quality. I am proud of that and him.

Obviously a Taliban or al Qaeda sleeper. I'd respond to the rest of your filth, but I just can't think of anything stupid enough for you to understand.
Luckily, Tom Ridge is monitoring the Internet and you will soon be in some anonymous detention camp.
Bon voyage,
Moo :)

Indeed it will be an interesting election.

And Moo, I think it's a bit harsh to accuse somebody who thinks of themself as being "right of Bush" as being a sleeper/terrorist. That's not really fair, and I hope you realize that.

BIF,
Please, Hudel is a stupid, racist idiot. Until you drop 100 points off your IQ and join the Klan, hold everything I bother writing to that person as being totally irrelevant to your political views, or to those of any other sentient being.
Drive happy,
Moo :)

I am amazed at how moronic some Americans have become (democrats in particular). The jihads may have recognized how pathetically spineless our culture has become.

We except, without concern, of being portrayed as infidels and children of Satan by a large percentage of over a billion mid-eastern “holy men”. And at the same time horrified at the using derogatory language when speaking of these groups who want us ALL dead.

If the Michael Moore’s get their way, you won’t be have time to huge trees. You will be running for you life.

Damn you sure sound like a special interest tree-hugger in 1 sentence. If you really want some fun, try a High performence snowmobile, Moto-Cross bike, 4 wheelier, or damn you can go to Laguna Seca and do a track day. In the mean time vote for Bush and support drilling for our own resources on american soil. Speaking of resources logging took a big decline while the liberals where in office. Damn Bush has alot of **** to clean up from the liberals.

Well - I fell for it. A couple of the posts here - despite my best efforts to the contrary - really got under my skin this evening, and not in a good way. So I cast my vote in the poll and I gotta tell ya - after seeing the results at this point, I'm glad I did because it seems I do have "company" after all, and lots of it.

We hunted and found our Prius for lots of practical reasons - not to make a statement, but I'm not ashamed of doing my part to help the environment either!

If the writing and sentiments of those supporting Bush and his administration, as illustrated here, is typical of those who do - God help us all. It's going to take new thinking --something along the lines outlined by Kerry in his speach last night, as he talked about new technologies being a big part of the answer, and which are available already (Lord knows - we're all driving an example of that right now!) - (See his website for details if you're interested or curious - don't fire back at me that his speach was lacking in those, the man only had an hour! -- go to the website and read 'em yourself! There's lots laid out there that needs to be seen with your own eyes...)

Name calling and insulting each other as illustrated in this and another thread is nothing but a selfish, self-indulgent, and childish distraction and destructive to the kind of constructive discussion we need on so many levels and in so many arenas especially these days.

I recommended this discussion board to someone today as a wonderful resource for wanna-be Prius owners, and now I'm a bit concerned about having done that... it seems to me we have here yet another example of how what appears to be literally maybe only a couple of foul mouthed aggressive - quite possibly just ignorant - but definitely apparently small minded thugs taking over, and quite possibly just because they can (or are we letting them?!). Case in point: Hudel outright calls Democrats and other Americans "moronic" and "spineless people" in the post above...

While all have a right to their opinion, and even a right to say so (currently - at least according to the books though that may change soon too if we don't watch out!), and while I'm always interested in *enlightened political conversation* (-- as in, courteous and respectful!!! -- ) it sure seems that this is not where it's happening! The poll appeared to have potential for a worthy conversation but instead now appears to have become a trap of some sort. Sad to say, I've a hunch there are more like this in lots of places both on and off line these days... What a waste. :(

Hey, jsp: When they call you names it means you've won the argument, because they've run out of reasons to justify their views. This particular election is especially emotional, because on the one side are the liberals, angry over the assault on civil rights and freedom of religion and the rush to a war under false pretenses; on the other side are conservatives, who have been raised in the Republican party, but who are disoriented by the robber-baron tactics of the current administration: Conservatives know in their gut that the largest national debt in history is anathema to the conservative creed, and that injecting religion into politics is sticking a knife into the Founding Fathers, but they don't know how to deal with a president who does not fit anywhere on the traditional political line (reactionary to progressive, with conservative and liberal in between). So everyone is angry, and you can expect more vitriol than in the "normal" presidential election.

Well, I'm glad that this thread picked up. However, could we keep it civil please?

I found it interesting that the majority of the votes went to the "Anyone but Bush" and "Bush had made some mistakes" options which seems to indicate that Prius buyers run more "Middle of the road" than I would have expected.

Just for the record, I voted "Anyone but Bush". I don't agree with Kerry on some of the issues but I think that he's the better choice.

Also for the record, I agree with HDRYGAS. I'm not a tree-hugger but I do like trees and I plan to buy the Prius for the increasing gas prices and the enviromental impact.

Unexpected turns

I believe this thread is indicative of changes occurring throughout our country as a whole.

At one time, our government AND our citizenries respect for the right of individuals to be different in all aspects once made us the symbol of Liberty throughout the world.

Now the world watches as we turn against each other and self destruct.

When our society changes from tolerant to intolerant, the terrorists will have won. External forces will no longer be needed to tear us apart.

We seem to have forgotten that we must fight to hold on to the liberties we have or we will slowly loose them. It seems that some of us have become VERY willing to voluntarily give up these liberties in the name of "national security".
