Discussion Starter #1
Good morning. Welcome back to todays version of our burglarized house. Hang in ther Pete.

Since this is a temporary category let's discuss temporary things. It got us to 60 on Sunday, and I was able to wash Dusty in the driveway. The warm weather is gone. The clean car remains, but promised snow tomorrow morning will end the clean part.
I.C. the snowflake is back on the dash. Thanks for nothing Puxatauney Phil.

It barely got above 50 F here today. I telecommuted today, so I never even started my car. Telecommuting days work good for me, because I can do everything here at home that I can do at work.

And the coffee is better here, too!

Oops, that was me. Forgot to sign in. :)

More in favor of telecommuting: No traffic aggravation.

But I'm also feeling sick, so I didn't even go work out. A good day for sleeping...

Tell me about it, I hate it when the Outside Temp reads lower than my MPG...

Flakes

Yup, I, too, had a few flakeless days on my dashboard. Alas, short lived. Flakey's back, brighter than ever. I even had the squiggly car thingy! Alas, so much for balmy March days. :(

On Tuesday, for example, it was 54 in the morning when I left for work. YAY! Good weather on my birthday! A gift for me! WRONG!! By noon it was 23 degrees with white out conditions. It began as rain, then sleet, then snow (just to cover up the ice on the road, so it would look pretty). Happy freakin' birthday to YOU, Sannydear! HAH!! Mother Nature has a nasty streak. At least there was chocolate cake. :)

I know it's futile, but I'm thinkin car wash after work. Supposed to snow tonight, but we'll feel clean for a few hours, anyway. Doesn't that count for something?

How's your weather?

It's been in the 80's in Phoenix the last couple of days; really nice weather for driving with the windows down. One day, I even turned the air conditioning on. (Oh no, 100+ degree weather is coming, again!)

We saw snow in Boston on the TV news. Hard to believe that it is still winter up north.

We have been taking long driving trips for vacations the past couple of years, enjoying our high-mileage Prius. And, we've really seen a lot of pretty country in the southwest desert and mountains, with the gas savings offsetting the expenses for motel rooms.

However, we just bought an Airstream trailer, so our Prius is going to spend some time in the garage this summer. We will really need it to offset fuel expenses as gas prices skyrocket, expecially since our Chevy pickup (with a 454) only gets 4-7 mpg when towing a trailer.

I sure wish Toyota would develop a hybrid truck that gets 50+ mpg, as I really feel conflicted driving our Chevy. The truck and Prius are probably about as far out on opposite extremes of the clean/efficient vehicle spectrum as one can get.

Has anyone heard about towing capacity on the Toyota Hybrid SUV?

Part of the problem you have is that the truck is a Chevy...aka a "GM" product. Sorry to sound like this, but it's unlikely that they will make a hybrid anytime soon, and that when they finally do, will it be reliable?

The only GM hybrids they have right now are like that Toyota commercial with the guy chained to his old beater-car, towing it with his own body... :? ...except that looked like an old Ford Escort.

I especially liked the big wooden front bumper, and how uncomfortable the girl looked in the passenger seat. :p I thought it was a good commercial.

Over 70 F in CA North !

Hey Gangs. The weather is great here in the San Francisco Bay Area
Northern CA.

Since the weather is breaking: Can I post My PRII inventory here ?
I want people waiting for their Prius to know that I have them here in volume.

I dont mean to discount your credibility, but GM does make hybrids, and they've been designing them since the 70's.

GM's hybrid technology is far more advanced and more effecent then any toyota model.
Also About reliablity, when is the last time you've owned a GM product? and you did realize that GM did score better on JD power and Associats in intial quality, long term, and short term reliablity then toyota?

Yeah, Yeah but then the "Numero Uno" spot is been replaced by Toyota this year. Last year Ford lost its 2nd spot and now the "King" will become the 2nd largest in the World ...Right after Toyota...

GM's Hybrid Technology far more advanced than that of Toyota ?

I know that the Alternator Hybrid help the GM's larger truck's mpg from 8 to 9 mpg !

GM Hybrid Transit Buses...

also the fuel ecconomy of a standard silverado v8 is 16-21, while the hybrid is designed more to be at the hand of a worker in need of a power generator, and just use his truck, hence the power jacks in the bed. also increases fuel ecconomy by 10%

while the Toyota v8 gets 16-18...

You forgot to mention that the GM's 16-21 or the 15-21 is based in :
Non-EPA ! GM's rating .....?

"Fuel economy estimates based on GM testing. EPA estimates not yet available"

Also the EPA MPG on the Toyota Tundras payload capacity for Tundras Access Cab V8's are: 1790 lbs _vs_ the GM Extended Cab 1253 lbs.

So Then Toyota Tundras can be loaded to 500 lbs more than the GM and measured with 3/4 Ton capabilitys and MPG...

1500 models with Vortec 4300 V6
2WD 4-speed automatic 16/21 (1 )
2WD 5-speed manual 16/22
4x4 4-speed automatic 15/18 (1 )

dont know where you are getting your information, according to FuelEconomy.gov 16/21 are EPA results,

also... the payloads for all 1500 silverados are
Regular Cab Standard Box 1,889
Regular Cab Long Box 2,052
Extended Cab Short Box 1,440
Extended Cab Standard Box 1,575 (for SS model 1,253) [not quite sure why you picked the sport model to compare payload with]
Extended Cab Long Box 1,506
Crew Cab Short Box 1,913

so while the tundra has a payload of 1790... In my personal oppinion is that its over rated... (with my personal truck, a toyota tundra) with 1700 lbs in the bed, the bed is almost rubbing the wheels...
never had that problem with a payload of a domestic truck, they generally can sweat 2 -3 times their suggested payload.
and if payload is a problem, just get the 1500HD, or 2500HD or 3500 to get payloads of 3129,3455,5169 respectively.

the tundra wont be the new big guy on the street when it debuts... the silverado will likely beat it to the market...

and toyota ought to stick to the size tundras they already have... if they make them any bigger, the comercial industry might accually try them and, i have a feeling they wont have the legendary "toyota quality"

No the new Tundra is going to lead. Any thing Toyota does eventually wins over any obstacle.
Also Toyota has to be seen as a full line of truck providing auto company as well.
