Hi, all,
Just a curiosity comment about the Check Engine Light NOT on my Prius, but on my wife's 2006 Mazda5. On 3 different trips from CT into Rhode Island on Rte 6, ONLY partially into the RETURN trip, the Check Engine Light came on in roughly the same place. I had the codes read at 2 different Auto Zones & the cooling system was supposedly to blame. The coolant level is near the full mark (way above the min. level) & the temperature gage works properly & is in the normal operating range. Each time the light has gone away by itself after a couple of days.
The thing that puzzles me is that the light turned on in each of the 3 cases only while in Rhode Island & in the same location within a mile or so. I wonder if some sort of electronic device in that area can trigger the light to go on by some sort of electro-magnetic pulse or something (yeah, I know I'm really reaching with that kind of thought), but we just went on an equal length trip into northern Massachusetts yesterday, & NO Check Engine Light on that trip & we've done other similar length trips within CT (east to west) recently without any CEL events.
