Default FOB Question

I went into the garage and heard a sound coming from somewhere in the Prius (2010 level 5). I believe it started when I walked past the car. It sounded like the ticking of a small fan. I opened all doors, the hatch, and the hood, and the only thing I could determine was that the sound wasn't coming from the engine compartment. Next I grabbed the FOB that was hanging on the wall and walked near the car. The noise stopped. I put the FOB back and the noise didn't start up again.I wonder if I am storing the FOB too close to the car with it in my hand. I'm concerned about wearing down the battery in both the FOB and the car. The FOB is about eight to ten feet behind the car. We've had the car for a year and have been storing it and the FOB in the same place for that time.
