Default Phone Book Transfer from Bluetooth phone

Hello,

I got my Prius (package 6) recently. I am trying to transfer the phone book from my Razr phone using bluetooth connection. The transfer doesn't go through. I followed the instructions in the manual. The dealer told me that the phone book cannot be transferred and I have to transfer the numbers one by one. Is that true?

Thanks

The ability to transfer contacts from your phone to the Prius' phonebook is dependent on the phone. For example, nearly all of the Sony Ericsson phones will transfer the entire phone book at once, while most of the Nokia and Motorola phones will only do one contact at a time, while some other phones (usually with Verizon service) cannot upload any numbers at all.

For your Motorola RAZR, see the userguide for connecting with a Prius at:

And as was stated, if you got your RAZR from Verizon, it may not work, as Verizon disables many of the bluetooth functions. I think there is one phone they didn't disable as much, not sure if that was the RAZR or another phone.

Thanks for your replies.

I am with Cingular. I followed the instructions outlined at http://toyota.letstalk.com/bluetooth/to ... azr_bt.pdf but couldn't transfer the contacts successfully. The selected contact (the contact I am trying to send) doesn't get transferred but some other contact gets transferred with a wrong phone number.

only one contact's phone number can be transferred at a time. So, if you have one entry for Bob, but several phone numbers for him (work, home, cell, fax, etc.), only the first phone number will be transferred (which can be really annoying if it's the fax number!)

What you'd need to do is to set up your phone's phone book such that each name only has one phone number attached to it. So, Bob Work, Bob Home, Bob Cell, etc.

The Prius also doesn't like certain characters in the phone number to be transferred (won't display correctly). IIRC, those are ()- and maybe a few others. When transferred, the Prius will show phone numbers with those characters with lots of ||| symbols on the screen... Just save your phone numbers as 1234567890 and you should be fine.
