Default Help! Brakes causing hard jerk when coming to a stop

I recently but myself a prius when i bought it the abs , brake, vsc lights were all on i took it to my mechanic he changed the front brakes and front driver side speed sensor and abs wiring harness cleared the lights they did not come back on but now when i brake and come to a full stop right before the car stops it jerks and it stops with a thump the faster your going the harder it jerks and slams to a stop if you brake at a low speed you can still feel the jerking shifting and the abnormal coming to a stop it. weird thing is when all the abs brake lights were on it never did this and also the brakes feel very soft doesnt feel safe to drive. Anyone have any idea what could it be?

Default Could be normal

I can't say if your brakes need further work, but if you are new to hybrids that use regenerative braking, a certain amount of twitchiness in the brakes is to be expected. It can take a bit of practice to learn to brake smoothly. If you hit the pedal the same way you are used to from non-hybrid vehicles you are likely to get that hard jerk all the time.

There is a rather rough transition from the regenerative braking to actual friction braking that occurs just before you come to a stop. It can usually be avoided or lessened if you begin braking sooner than you normally would and do so in a more gradual fashion(coast first if possible), then just before you come to a full stop, lift your foot off the brake, and then reapply it lightly to finally stop. You'll get the hang of it after a while. Whenever you feel frustrated that you're not getting it right, remember the upside to this braking system is that your pads are likely to last twice as long . I just had a state inspection last month where they check for pad thickness. I had 116,000 miles on my 2012 Prius C and fully expected to be told that the pads would need to be replaced, or at least they would need it very soon, as they are the originals. But it passed.
