Default Could I get a 2006 stereo put in my 2005?

I have the single disc AM/FM. I understand that for 2006 there's the option to have a cd that plays MP3, and has an auxiliary input.
I'm sure it would cost an outrageous amount, but if I wanted, would Toyota do it for me?

Probably, but not sure.
But then there's the question of the faceplate, considering the 2006 does not have a tape player.

Well, they'll just have a rectangular gap with the radio's metal shell showing lol.

Why would there be a gap. Are the stereos not the same size?

They shouldn't have to be. 2 DIN is understandable for a 6 CD changer with tape deck. Even a 6CD integrated changer as 2DIN makes sense, but radios have accomplished it in 1 DIN, especially with the amp circuit offloaded to another location.

I guess gap is the wrong word. I just meant that those with a cassette player would have a hole in the outer plastic cover (the brownish one) for the cassette.
