Thumbs down 2016 Prius - Rapid ticking noise when braking

Has anyone with a 2016 Prius experiencing a rapid ticking noise when braking at the front driver's side? This noise started around February 2017 when my car had 22,000 miles now I have 30,500. I've been to Glendale Toyota at least 4 times to resolved this issue and they refused to fix it because the garage foreman / service manager are saying this is normal without any explanation. I also called the 800 number for Toyota with no help as well. I really like my car but very disappointed how no one is helping.

Is it the sound of the antilock brakes cycling?

If you haven't noticed, any person you talk with at a dealership will lie by omission and admission. They show zero concern for the customer. Maybe it's that way at any dealership. By the way, I hear no 'ticking' on my 2016 Prius, however, I did learn recently there is no spare tire, not even a donut, what can these people be thinking?

How strange! I bought my 2016 Prius here in Nova Scotia, Canada and our cars come with a spare tire. It's a temporary-type (a.k.a., donut), but it'll do the job. Only car I've had with no spare was my 2006 Smart--it just came with an overly-optimistic canned inflator.

Ticking noises aren't uncommon with any disc brake system; in my experience, it is sometimes caused by wear-down of the rotor and a protruding edge is left around the perimeter of the rotor. This "edge" often has some spots that stick out a little more than others (usually kind of rusty bumps) and this creates a ticking. Another cause is sometimes, ironically, something called the anti-rattle plate, a light piece of metal that sometimes catches a stone or pebble and ends up getting bent slightly so that it contacts the above-mentioned rough spots.

And maybe it's something else entirely! But I am flabbergasted that the dealer wouldn't at least try cleaning up the rotor edges and checking all the various components. A ticking noise SHOULD be able to be remedied.

Absolutely weird, does Toyota really know what they are doing? The donut tire actually exist for 2016 Prius and Toyota will not sell one, I cannot say on this forum what I think about that. I emailed Toyota corporate, they wouldn't even touch the question, just referred me back to the dealer.

Dan, I will tell you that dealers are almost useless and exist in their fancy buildings to sell cars, not to be customer friendly.
