Default 2011 Prius Ready light/ car will not go into drive

Hello,
I have 2010 Prius with <15k miles. My problem is intermittent so it is hard or impossible to duplicate. What is happening is this: When I get in the car and mash the brake, push the power button, the car goes thru the pre test but does not give a ready light. Instead, the traction control(?) light comes on as well as the cluster lights on the right. The fan blows but the radio will not play. You can not adjust anything electrical. Basically the car is will not go into Reverse or Drive.

At times, I have been able to power off the car, make sure the parking brake is set, mash the brake pedal and the car will start normally but this morning it would not "reset". I tried multiple times and never could get the care to give me a green/ready light. I ended up having to drive my Tundra. I called my wife about an hour later and she said she had just went down to the car and it worked as it should.

I know it is hard to diagnosis something without putting your hands on it, or without duplicating the events. I wanted to ask if this is something that others have experienced in the past? If so, what was the solution(s)

Thanks,
Jeff

Have you checked your 12 volt auxiliary battery voltage yet? I am a relatively new arrival to the Generation III Prius, but I spent 3 years driving a 2008 Generation II. Any time the electronics acted up it was usually something to do with that battery. There was an easy way to test the unloaded and loaded voltage right in the car with the Gen II. I don't know if the Gen III has the same access screen. Probably not. So get hold of a digital volt-ohm meter (DVOM) and either read the voltage at the jump points under the hood or pull panels in the right-rear corner of the car and test the battery directly. It should be at least 12 to 12.5 volts at rest. If it's low you can try charging. But if the battery is 5 years old, the original factory battery, I would consider replacing it.

My 2008 prius was doing similar things. Try turning off the headlights and start again. My problems went away after i replaced the 12v battery. the battery lasted 8 years and 120k miles
