Hello Priuscentis,

I know this is not concerning the Prius but since is the next gen HH or the Highlander Hybrid so hoping is a OK to post.

Just went to _University of Toyota_ new vehicle launch take a test web site for the new and upcoming HH or the Highlander Hybrid.

Bold new looks, newer, bigger, quiter, safer, better mpg and more power and torque, and advanced Hybrid technology-laden Highlander Hybrid on its way to America for all of you, the Hybrid embracer!

No powertrain/battery information available as of yet but exited about the long sought after re-design of the midium size cleanest Sport-Ute.

Did see the "EV" only botton and "ECON" bottons as well.

Toyota had this model ( Gas Version ) for the last 6 years! Now, finally re-designed to be unvailed to general public soon.

Will post more technical info as soon as available to me.

In meantime, test report via edmunds.com: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Dr ... eId=121374

in addition: NOW, the Toyota Hybrid system is not only economical but ingenious, V8 producing V12 class Newton Power and V6 frugality.

German super luxury vehicle manufacturers , be aware..

Default Towing

I have a 2006 Prius that I absolutely love and now want to go hybrid to replace a truck used for towing a 2500 lb cargo trailer. Does anyone have practical experience using a highlander for towing ?

actually, the Highlander is nearly 7 years old now (2001-2007).

Yeah the new Highlander Hybrid looks pretty good. Would like to know the specs (are they still using the 288V battery with the 650V inverter? or have they upgraded it).

I would suggest you check out whether the Highlander Hybrid will be authorized as a tow vehicle. It probably has the same type of "power transfer unit" (transmission) as the synergy drive and that's the weak link for towing, regardless of the horsepower.

hyperion,

The Current transaxle mechanism prevents direct rolling towing as you already know. I believe Toyota will not modify its transaxle for behind another vehicle towing. It can tow a max of 5000 lbs although!

I will check on that for sure..
