I know that it took two people to start most air cooled VW cars (one to spray ether.) Then it could take two prople to drive. One to steer and one to vigorously scrape the inside of the windshield so you could see to steer since air cooled VW never produced warm defrost air.
Brings back some memories of trying to start my bug in Chicago circa January '78, when the temps did not go above freezing for 30+ days.

An acquaintance who owns an original Prius said it was a little sluggish on a winter trip to Wisconsin where temps got down to 10 F.

I can't speak about the Classic Prius. My '04 is not sluggish at 30 below zero (though the traction control kicks in if I accelerate hard from an icy intersection, and that could be mistaken for sluggishness - where other cars spin their wheels and swerve from side to side without even moving forward, my Prius moves ever so slowly straight forward as the car reduces the throttle to handle the ice). When it was colder than 30 below I stayed home.

At 30 degrees below zero, if there's no wind, ice crystals form and float in the air and the air sparkles. It's an incredibly beautiful thing to see. It's as though you've stepped into a fantasy world. If you lift your arm, you can watch the steam coming out of your sleeve.

When it is too cold for the bumpers to rust the denizens of the frozen north look for other entertainment.
