I thought in order for the Honda's AC to operate.......it needed power from the ICE?
Whereas the P* AC can operate soley on Electric.
Advantage P*

Default 06 Civic vs. 06 Prius

The 06 Honda now does this without need of the ICE.

Specifically, the 2006 HCH has two A/C compressors -- one powered by the ICE and one that's electric. It only uses the electric one when the engine isn't running.

Default Bad Vibes!

One person wrote that they had experienced vibrations in the Honda they had. I have experienced, at least in the demo model, a really annoying vibration in the door of the Prius. I am very sensitive to rattles, squeaks, wind noise, and especially vibrations. I am impressed with both cars. The prius seems more practical but the 2006 Civic looks great and offers more class. Can anyone tell me what kind of annoying yet common sounds they have experienced in either the Toyota Prius or the Honda Civic hybrids?

I am very close to purchasing a Prius, but the driverís seat bugs me. I donít seem to be able to get comfortable. I have even had the car overnight for a test drive. The Civic driverís seat allows me to raise and lower it along with a telescopic steering wheel. Not sure Iíll be able to adjust to the Prius driverís seat anybody have the same problem and have been able to adjust to it?

I like the Civic and the NAV is great for the price of the vehicle. Civic is slower and seems to be slower merging at highway speeds; the driving position is very good.

During my test drives to work and then back to the dealer (they are located next to each other) with both cars, I averaged 46 in the Prius and 45 in the Civic so that doesnít sway me one way or the other.

Sounds to me if you are more comfortable in the Civic and you find the Civic features are better, and mileage is about equal for you, and the size and body style is adequate with the civic, by all means, get the Civic.

I actually like both vehicles, but after multiple test drives and keeping the Prius overnight, Iím still canít find a comfortable driving position in the Prius, itís only down fall compared to the lack of extra power while merging at highway speeds (60mph) in the Civic Hybrid. With that said, I have made a deal to purchase the HCH.

Am I to understand that the HCH has better acceleration to 60MPH than the Prius (in your testing)?

No, the lack of power merging onto the highway was with the HCH, not the Prius. The power in the Prius was more than adequate.

First post. I have a Civic and I drove a 2006 Civic EX before I drove a Civic Hybrid. The Civic EX is much more like a sports car than the Corolla. But when I drove the Civic Hybrid, it felt like a car that was added onto. The EX felt way better. The Prius felt like it was unified all the way. I bought a red Prius. I had to drive over 100 miles to get it on 9-18-06. After I got mine, the salesman headed for the airport to pick up a lady who was flying into Roseville CA from LA, over 400 miles, to get a pkg. 8 Prius. I called dealers in the SF Bay area and no one had a pkg 3. This state is all but cleaned out before the big tax credit drop.
