Default Exclamation in round circle?

OK, what does it mean when the exclamation comes on the dash in a round circle, not a triangle? It happens on my wife's 2006 Prius and the tire pressure looks normal to me. It has only 1,700 miles.

according to my 2004 Owner's Manual, an exclamation point in a round circle is the "Brake system warning light." There's one in yellow, and one in red. Any chance the ABS or VSC light is also on? For both colored brake warnings, they're listed as stop driving and contact Toyota... except for the conditions listed below:

Simply put, nothing to be concerned about if all lights are out after several minutes of driving. Anything after that small time frame and there is an explanation in the owners manual that should be heeded.

So.. its funny I should read this. Because at 6:07am this morning as I was on my way to work.. I found a yellow exclamation point on my dash with a circle around it.

I have a 2006 Prius. What do you have?

Since mrv explained it might of been a brake issue, I called my dealership as I was about 10 minutes away from it (7:00am by this time) and they told me my brake pads hadn't been checked during the last service--but at the same time said they didn't think it was the pads.

At 7:10am I check in with my service team, they say it is a tire issue. Either a flat, low pressure, or pressure imbalance between the wheels (the tires arent at a same/similar PSI) and proceeded to tell me that my car brake pads WAS inspected at the last visit, and showed me on the screen where the guy must of missed it..

10:00am phone call from dealership--car is fine. My tire pressure was just awry and they fixed it and reset the line and all is super.

Hopefully the tire pressure thing is the same issue you have.. I did check my tire pressure while the light was on and one of my back ones had hit 28PSI.. I didn't think that was it and just decided to drive it to the dealer anyways (it was fine a week ago at 34!). I am only wondering if there is a way to reset that light ourselves (he made it sound like they had to do it)--Dan?

it's always possible that the dashboard lights have changed meaning between my 2004 Owner's Manual and the newer 2006 Prius...

Default Low Tire Pressure was the cause

My wife's Prius is a 2006 not a 2004 version. She took it to GoodYear and they filled up the front tires to 35 psi and the rea tires to 33 psi and the warning light went off.

My parents got a Check Engine light, and my dad asked me if there was a way to find out what it might be. He knows I am good at finding stuff on the internet, and figured there might be a dance to get the code, and a chart on the net to interpret the resulting code.
Since it was ODBII, I told him a scanner was needed. That was before you could go somewhere and have the code read for free, or even buy an inexpensive reader. They took it to the dealer and it turned out to be a low tire. ABS probably senses the difference in wheel rotation speeds, and throws a code. So I'd say your dealer's diagnosis makes sense.

When a code is thrown, if the condition causing the code goes away, eventually the code goes too. It may take several trips. You probably can have an auto parts store or some independent repair shops clear it for you at no or minimal charge.

Please, please, please don't go by what the tires "look like"..... they may look fine and be 10 lbs. under pressure. You simply must get a tire gage and check the pressure.

I'm rather fanatical about checking tire pressure. At minimum, once a week, but usually more often. All of my cars are within a couple of pounds (which I impart as inherent error in gauge readings) usually slightly above recommended tire pressure stated on the car door.
