Default Dash rattle...once again

Having been plagued for years, and having posted several times about it, with dash rattle(s) in my 2004, I may finally have found the fix. See the photo. Just a small (#4 sheet-metal) screw installed snugly between the top dash panel and the corner of the a/c panel, at the left side of the display covering. What a relief it is!

Very smart, I should try that on the panels that hold the triangle window defogers. I know they are most of the dash noise I currently experience.

I hadn't thought of those sources. As we who are bothered know, dash rattles are hard to track down--I suppose primarily because of the sound reflections off the windshield. What's happening seems not to be rattles per se, of course, but rubbing of one dash component against another. The screw just serves to force the components a little bit apart, to eliminate (or reduce) the rubbing. I surely hope Toyota has corrected this by now!

My hearing is so poor now that I have a tough time tracking down the remaining "rattles". If using a small screw for the purpose, one needs to find the place(s) where the components rub together >and< where they are sufficiently close together and with sufficient thickness of material for a screw to get a good purchase.
